Another new electric car is the updated Prologue pioneered by Honda. The battery-powered crossover was made to fit the American market, where it has been given more power and a greater range, otherwise it is identical. What is most pleasant: the price has not been raised as well!

Range updates

Thus entry-level Honda Prologue is now able to travel a distance of 496km/charging one battery and is therefore 19km further than the previous car, on a single charge (Front-wheel drive). The all-wheel drive crossovers of the EX and Touring models, in their turn, have increased their travel distance by 473 km (+21 km) and 455 km (+16 km), respectively. The size of the battery has also been unchanged, 85 kWh.

Power and torque

Electric cars with front-wheel drive are stronger by 8 hp and 9 Nm: the power of the engine has increased to 223 and 329 hp and Nm, respectively. All-wheel drive has contributed 9 hp. and 34 Nm: respectively, the power has risen to 304 hp and 481 Nm. As it has been recalled above, the Prologue is technically very similar to the Chevrolet Blazer EV: the two vehicles are based on the same platform.

Honda has also given the Prologue a modernization to make it even stronger. The front-wheel drive model has 496 km as per the EPA cycle, 19 km higher than the old model, with the same battery capacity of 85 kWh. Better all-wheel drive dual-motor adjustments also provide a higher mileage: the EX and Touring models are able to go up to 473km as compared to 21km previously and the top-end Elite model has also gained 16km to reach a distance of 455km.

There is an augmentation of power and range

Honda has also increased the level of performance along with the miles per gallon. The electric motor has been added to the front-wheel drive Prologue which deliver 220 hp (164 kW) and 329 Nm of torque (compared to 164 kW and 9 Nm previously). Now models with all-wheel drive generate 300 hp (224 kW) and 481 Nm compared to 12 hp and 34 Nm.

The performance figures of the Prologue are now comparable to the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV, onto which the Prologue is based. Nonetheless, the company has not mentioned having a pricier variant of the Prologue Type R which would be powered by the Blazer SS twin-motor (615 hp (459 kW)) system.

An unsure future Honda Prologue

Speaking of the rise in power and range, the Prologue now has a range rating, and it is certified by EPA as 308 miles, 12 more than the previous model.

The electric SUV will come in three levels of trim, which include EX, Touring and Elite. Prices begin at $47,400 with the EX model (excluding the $1,450 destination fee), and then it incurs the government incentives or tax credits on lessees.

A note issued by co-workers at InsideEVS indicated that Honda requested GM to cut down on the production of Prologue earlier this month. No official reason was provided, but the move might have been associated with an abundance of inventory in the dealerships.

There is also a high probability that Honda is trying to escape the impact of elimination of the tax incentives and potential import tariffs which have certainly boosted the sales of the model.

To stimulate demand, Japanese manufacturer has rolled out low lease rates on Prologue and its luxury version, the Acura ZDX.

In the meantime Honda is proceeding with the manufacture of EVs on its own platform in Ohio. To the present day, there is no information regarding a probable attested successor of the Prologue.
