The European version of the third-generation 2023 Honda HR-V has a single powertrain, the i-MMD hybrid system that the Honda Jazz also utilizes. It consists of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with Atkinson cycle (107 hp and 131 Nm), a attached generator, a traction electric motor (131 hp and 253 Nm) and a low-capacity battery.

The engine does not work directly into the wheels, but produces power in the electric motor, in the most efficient rev range. Mostly, the electric motor is used to move the car. However, when the electronics determine that it is more efficient to run on the ICE to give propulsion (such as when driving on a highway), the engine will have direct connection with the wheels via a clutch.

The crossover is available with full LED headlights, a suite of more advanced driver-assistance systems than the last generation (i.e., adaptive cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist recognition, blind-spot monitoring, and others, collectively called Honda Sensing package), parking sensors, a rear-view camera, automatic tailgate opening (and closing when the driver walks away), climate control, heated front seats, wireless charging, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
