Honda has already released a new version of the Japanese market Odyssey e:HEV minivan of the 2026 model year. This update is though extremely minor with a large price increase attached to it. The vehicle has increased by 286,000 yen (equivalent to about 1,800 dollars) compared to the former model, which is strange considering the fact that the demand of this model is not high.

Alterations in the Japanese version.

One should realize that the Japanese version of the Odyssey is entirely not the same as the model in the North American market. The Japanese market additionally released their current generation way back in 2013 and is currently undergoing its second restyling. Honda moved the model back to market in 2023, imported into Japan, although no major design changes were made, after its production stopped in the end of 2021.

Exterior and Interior

Exterior

The exterior modifications in 2026 are only in one additional paint. The Odyssey e:HEV has not changed in any aspect in its technical side, as the technical aspect of the Odyssey is the same as it was in the previous model year. The minivan still has a hybrid powertrain, which includes 2.0 liters of gasoline engine and one electric motor. Its overall power of the system is 181 horsepower, and the torque is sent to the front wheels through an E-CVT transmission. Honda does not declare any progressive dynamics, economy or smoothness to 2026.

It is on this backdrop that the step by the company to raise prices seems especially contradictory. The Honda Odyssey e:HEV in Japan is selling at a higher price by 286 thousand Yen, which equals about 1800 US dollars. The model is currently priced at 5,086,400 and 5,450,500 yen (32,700 -35,000), as compared to last year when the model was significantly cheaper. This price increment is rather paradoxical considering the absence of severe improvements and the general condition of demand.

With its triangular headlights, graceful grille and clear body lines, its strong and practical profile, the Odyssey is a high-class and family-friendly vehicle at the same rate. And behind the large triangular lights, the small spoiler and the vertical tailgate make it a balanced design that puts more strength on the utility without compromising on the style.

An interior that knows what it is like to be a travelling family.

It is what is inside that makes the Odyssey so special. The 2026 Odyssey will be a rolling living room, with space to fit several people comfortably, the space used to the last millimeter, and with quality material. It would still have that typical sloping dashboard, the vertical vents, the 9-inch touchscreen, the user-friendly controls, and that broad central console that allows one to pack in everything they require in the daily adventure, or the lengthy vacation journey.

However, the most significant is the fact that Honda has considered all aspects of the modern family:

• The second row features magic Slid seats that slide in order to gain access or to separate the little ones in case of need.
• A cab camera to look at what is happening at the back without having to twist your head.
• Sockets at home, since today everybody has technology in their bag.
• And sound system that makes any journey a family concert.
