2012 Honda CR-V is an SUV of the front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with the K1 class. In 2011 it premiered the fourth generation at the Los Angeles Auto Show and in July 2012 it premiered in Europe.

One can observe that Honda designers really tried a lot to make CR-V more modern-stylish. And fairly, the Japanese were successful. The more observable ones, though, were technological. As an example, the all-wheel-drive mechanism was revised in a manner that both axes are activated even when the car is not in motion. When started in motion, the electronics will not respond to the wheel slip, until all the torque is applied to the front axle, when the rear axle is connected. Other significant modifications are the decrease in aerodynamic drag by six percent.

The cargo area of Honda CR-V was also changed. The load height and the floor position were reduced by 30 mm; the rear seat was electrically driven to make folding easier; and the length of the cargo compartment was 140 mm and 1,570 mm. Consequently, the crossover has a range of cargo volume of 569 to 1,669 liters.

Moving on to the interior of the CR-V, it can be noted that the transmission tunnel had dropped significantly even in the all-wheel-drive model. The rear seats were also lowered by 30 mm which allowed more headroom and the bottom of the driver-seat was lowered by 10 mm.

European variant of 2012 Honda CR-V may also be configured with 2.2 liter i-DTEC diesel engine that generates 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque or 2.0-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine with the same 148 hp output but 193 Nm of torque. The engines are available with 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. With the help of the Start-Stop system and other eco-friendly technologies, the crossover produces less than 170 g/km of pollution and in the most ecologically friendly model, it is only 99 g/km.

The CR-V in Europe is made in the United Kingdom factory of Honda.
